Well, we got back really late from the Royal Medieval Faire last night...we had wanted to spend the night in Waterloo, but couldn't because apparently it was some other festival weekend in the area that weekend, and there were no available hotels anywhere for less than about $200...and that's too much. So, we drove home in the middle of the night. Thankfully, we made it safe and sound.
The festival as a whole was kind of crummy...it was raining so hard from Friday night onward that the fire department was all over town clearing apartment buildings and stuff because they were flooded, the roads on the drive up looked like they were ready to wash out, etc. We got there at about 0830, and had to set up in the pouring rain. And, it poured rain pretty steadily with only a few breaks until about 2 PM, and for the most part people didn't bother to show up. As soon as the rain stopped, the wind started, and it was cold as hell. Sun didn't come out til about four or five in the evening, and it was gone again pretty quick. There were some crowds later in the day, but it was pretty late, it was miserable weather-wise, and unfortunately for me, there were a total of 10 or 11 chainmaillers at the festival...I had been under the impression the festival limited entries of the same sort of vendors, but apparently not. That also severely hurt the day.
But, such is life. I have lots of leftover stock to share with everyone at discounted prices, and hopefully people will take me up on a few deals, as I need to scrape together the money for my tuition next semester very soon, as well as my car payment. Bleh.
Economy, why you still in the toilet?
I'll photograph some goodies tomorrow, and get them posted.
Note: Any remaining commissions will be done this week and shipped. There's honestly not much left to go out now, just a few etsy orders that were waiting on supplies, which showed up on Thursday finally, and one or two other things from DA and FA.
I'm done with sales for the year (supposedly--people are asking me to go to another one in the KW area, but I haven't decided if I want to yet), thankfully. I'm very tired and worn out from the constant being on the go and trying to juggle school, job, and everything else at the same time. I love cons and faires and stuff, I just need a break from the constant pressure and tearing around of them. I much prefer commissions.
Time to get back to more of them.
